Ezekiel 38:,1,2: "And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 'Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him,"
Most Bible scholars agree that Gog and Magog, Meshech and Tubal are Russia and her satellite nations. The Russian Bear IS alive and well. They may be crimped a little economically, and cold and hungry, but they are just as intact as ever. If you are keeping up with the headlines, you'll know that they are now in position to attack Israel. War is very imminent!
Rf: Matthew 24:6, 7 shows the red horse…
Ezekiel 38:2,3 "Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, And say, 'Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:"
This is a prophecy against Gog and Magog [Soviet Union, eastern Europe, etc.] God declares, prophetically, that the day is coming when He is going to bring this syndicate of nations together, headed by Russia. We should always remember that God is Sovereign. We don't always understand things He does, but He is all-knowing; His ways are higher than our ways; His thoughts are higher than ours—so we leave it in His hands, knowing He NEVER makes mistakes.
Ezekiel 38:4a "And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army…"
Literally changing Russia's direction. All of a sudden, regardless of what the world perceives, Russia will not concern herself with Western Europe because that will be the domain of the Antichrist. That power has to be in place for the battle of Armageddon. Prophetically, there are only three areas of the world that are involved in those last days of the Tribulation [Armageddon]: Western Europe, the Orient, and parts of Africa. There is nothing at the very end that concerns Russia or the Western Hemisphere. Neither is there anything in prophecy that involves those two areas in that last, great battle.
Ezekiel 38:5 "Persia (today it is called Iran), Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:"
Remember, Ezekiel is using the language of his day. That great mass of humanity will come down on the Nation of Israel with all manner of weapons.
Ezekiel 38:6a "Gomer, and all his bands;"
Most Bible scholars agree this is Eastern Europe. When General Patton raced across Europe back in WWII, everyone thought he would be all the way to Warsaw before we knew it. He had stopped at the Elbe River for seemingly no reason. Later we found out that it was all agreed on at Yalta. When Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill met at Yalta, they divided Europe and so we had to stop at the Elbe river as it was, for the most part, the eastern border of the old Roman Empire. That really divided Germany exactly where it needed to be divided in order for this Gomer to be set apart from that which was more or less Western European. So when all of this division started to fall apart a few years ago, we all began to wonder about Ezekiel 38:, until an article was found in a newspaper, that Helmet Cole, Russia's president, met with Gorbachev [Prime Minister, at that time] and they made the agreement that the East German Army would remain in the Warsaw pact for at least 4 more years, which says that Gomer is still intact with his consortium of nations with Russia. I don't know if that is still true today, but it is still relatively intact. It's still a capable military force.
Ezekiel 38:6a "Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah…" [The nation of Turkey].
Ezekiel 38:7 "Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them."
Ezekiel 38:8 "After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years…" (Scripturally, the last days of Scripture begin with the first Advent. It doesn't necessarily mean the last seven years, but has been the last 1900 plus years that are considered the last days. The term "latter days" does take you to the end times, into the final seven years, which is the word used here) "thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations…"
This is talking about present day Israel: 50 years ago Israel was the land of Palestine, a no man's land. Today, since Israel is back in the land EVERYONE wants it. Unbelievable production, farming and agricultural, dairy and fruit farms, etc. And these are all the Jews who had previously been scattered throughout the world. Not only is their nation alive again, but so is their once dead language.
Ezekiel 38:9 "Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land…" (not necessarily air power, but massive invasion armies) "…thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.
The list of the consortium of nations listed in vs 5 and 6.
Ezekiel 38:10 "Thus saith the Lord God; 'It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:'"
Ezekiel 38:11,12a "And thou shalt say, 'I will go up to the land of un-walled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,'" vs 12 "To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited…"
A perfect picture of Israel. Since they're return in 1948, things have started booming. Their production, building highways, apartments. Israel used to have nothing, but now the country is vibrant with activity: building, technology and medicine, agriculture, farming, etc.
Ezekiel 38:12b "…and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land."
Ezekiel 38:13a "Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, 'Art thou come to take a spoil?'"
Tarshish, I believe, refers to Great Britain, possibly Spain, but more likely Great Britain. Other nations there will be involved in the NATO alliance, under the rule of the Antichrist. This has caught them so off guard that they won't have the time to retaliate militarily.
Ezekiel 38:13b "…hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey (are you invading us)? To carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods…"
In other words, to take a great spoil? What else can the Western European nations do? But God is going to intervene, shortly.
Ezekiel 38:14,15a "Therefore (God says to the prophet), son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, 'Thus saith the Lord GOD; In that day (when they invade Israel) when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not now it? And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts…'"
Which means everything from Lebanon to about Moscow.
Ezekiel 38:16 "And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days (the second time "latter days" has been used indicating the Tribulation) and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen (or the Gentiles) may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog…"
In other words, when the rest of the world SEES WHAT A SOVEREIGN GOD CAN DO TO A MODERN MILITARY FORCE.
Ezekiel 38:18 "And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face."
Russia has been anti-God for over 70 years, and GOD HASN'T FORGOTTEN. God is ALWAYS just, and has a GOOD REASON when he pours out His vengeance. Russia will have much to answer for: the millions that the Communists have put to death; for the ill treatment of the Jew, "My fury is coming up before me."
Ezekiel 19 "For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, 'Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel;'"
As a result of this invasion…
Ezekiel 38: 21a "And I will call for a sword against him (the invaders) throughout all my mountains…"
Israel is mountainous, the very center being a string of mountains and valleys.
Ezekiel 38:21b "…every man's sword shall be against his brother."
Basic Bible rule of Bible study says, Always go to the place of first mention, ie: when something is mentioned in the Old testament and then again in the New, see if they tie together.
Rf: Revelation 6:4a "And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they (the combatants) should kill ONE ANOTHER…"
Not the enemy, but each other. That's why this is so unique, this great invasion of Israel. Go back to Ezekiel and compare the words. Our Sovereign God is going to fight this battle here on the hills of Israel. It has happened here before when Samaria had been encircled and was under siege, and they were starving to death. The Lord prophesied that by tomorrow night at this time, they would have more food than they would know what to do with. You remember that in their confusion, they were killing each other. It has happened before! Now again, look at Ezekiel says in comparison to the red horse statement in Re 6, that every man's sword should be against his brother. In other words, they will annihilate THEMSELVES. God, Himself, of course, is going to come in with His own power.
Ezekiel 38:22,23 "And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone (same language as Sodom and Gomorrah). Thus I will magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD."
The Russian army or Northern Confederation army will be defeated by not only it's own confusion but also by the tremendous power of God. It will be utterly destroyed right there on the hills and mountains of Israel.

Ezekiel 39:1 "Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, 'Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee…'"
And one day soon, America will hear those words. America, who has been so blessed by God, and then has come finally to turn their back on Him. America, today, has become evil: pagans, witches and satanists, the end times Whore which is the Roman Catholic Church with their false doctrine; and even our Government is almost totally Socialist.
Ezekiel 39:2 "And I will turn thee back…" (God will turn them back. This is how He deals with nations that He judges.) "…and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel."
Ezekiel 39:3, 4 "And I will smite thy bow out of the left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand. Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured."
Some people think this is Armageddon, but this is a separate war. A separate battle within the seven-year time period, but not Armageddon.
Ezekiel 39: 5 "Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD (now look at vs 6, underline it) "…And (God says) I will send a fire on Magog, and amongst them that dwell carelessly in the isles…"
Meaning, the homeland of Russia and all the nations that consorted against Israel. Note that the language is different from the destruction of the army and Israel itself. Israel's God is going to use pestilence and hail and brimstone to accomplish this. But it appears that God is using an outside force to destroy the Russian homeland in vs 6.
Ezekiel 39: 7 – 9 "So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen (Gentile) shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel. Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this is the day whereof I have spoken. And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the hand staves, and the spears (this is language used in Ezekiel's day—the words we would use today are, tanks, armored personnel carriers, etc.) "and they shall burn them with fire seven years:"
People will say that they can't see how this could be the Tribulation, because there wouldn't be enough time for it. But remember, in Scripture a part of a year was counted as a whole year. i.e: One year and one month would be counted as two years. So using that, an invasion of the Nation of Israel within the first 11 months, for instance, after the seven-year treaty is signed, will still make this prophecy come true.
Now back to vs 6, and this is just a speculation: Doesn't it seem to make sense that Russia would probably get rid of North America BEFORE they went after Israel? After all, we are the only nation in the world that would help Israel—by now, every other nation hates her. So if Russia unloads on America—and there is nothing for us in prophecy—there are still U.S. submarines all over the ocean floor. So, when it says that God will send a fire on the Russian homeland, it could be from our submarines which are all loaded with ballistic missiles. So if the subs all unload on Russia's homeland, that's it for Russia. Hmmm! But this is only speculation.
Events that take place in the Tribulation will be so beyond human understanding, that when America retaliates and knocks out the whole Russian homeland, that America and Russia are both annihilated.
Rf:
Matthew 24:7b "…and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places."
Revelation 6:5, 6a "And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast (or creature) say, 'Come and see.' And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts (or creatures) say, 'A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny;'"The Black Horse signifies famine (it talks about rationing, "balances"). If you were to knock out the great food production area of Russia, what would that do to the world's food supply? It almost annihilates it. So the rest of the world will find themselves right in the middle of a famine. And wherever you find famine and death, you are bound to find disease. It goes hand in glove.
Revelation 6:7, 8 "And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast (creature) say, 'Come and see.' And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth." The fourth horse is the pale one. At the demise of two great power structures, he now sees the pale horse and Death, with Hell following. Power was given them to kill with the sword. One fourth of the world, whether it's ¼ geographical, or ¼ of the population —it will be one fourth—and it's just beginning…………Now remember, the horsemen are symbolisms of the coming events.
Matthew 24:8 "All these are the beginning of sorrows." Besides paying off the mortgage (the scroll) it was also a delivery of the earth from the curse that was instituted back in the garden of eden. So, Jesus is referring to all these events that are going to come on the planet, beginning with the horsemen of Revelation. It's like a mother having birth pains—her pains start out mildly and progressively get worse. As great as this is, it is mild compared to what is still coming.
Jeremiah 30:7 "Alas! For that day is great (the Tribulation), so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble (Nation of Israel); but he shall be saved out of it.
