MISKAN TABERNACLE PHOTOS

To begin with this is Solomon's Pillars, it is the place of the Copper Mines of King Solomon, deep in the Negev Desert. It is near here that I found the Miskan (Tabernacle)

The Miskan setting in the middle of the Desert. We found it deserted and just setting there as if waiting for us to investigate.

When you leave Bet Shemesh and pass the village of Zechariah traveling the back roads you come to a place called the House of Gurvin. Today it is a Jewish Kibbutz, and the residence have unearthed a Roman Amphitheater that is one of the best preserved I have ever seen. The tunnels and cages for the Lions and Tigers are just as they were over 2000 years ago, as is the Gladiator tunnels.

This is a Crusader Church and Castle that was built over a Byzantine Church that was built over a Roman Fortress. When driving by the Hebron, Gaza highway you can see this but you cannot see the Roman Amphitheater. The inside of these ruins is something you will want to see if you ever come to Israel.

One of the best preserved Olive Presses I have seen in Israel, there are many other building that have been excavated around this Crusader Church.

The Roman Amphitheater, this picture does not do it justice, but you can see the grades over the tunnels for the Lions. The inside tunnels and under ground tunnels for the animals is well preserved. When standing in the center of this arena you can feel the and since things of old. One wonders if any or how many Christians were fed to the Lions in this place.

One of the Gladiator Tunnels, this is the last thing many men ever saw before facing their death just past that opening. There is another one just like this one on the other side of the arena.
